FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED BRIDAL QUESTIONS

Is the trial run required?

No, the trial run is not required, but is strongly recommended. A trial run is a great way for me to get my hands on your hair and see what is possible! it helps determine timing, ability to hold curl, the need for extensions, and any need extra prep to get your hair smooth and frizz free for the day of. It also give you piece of mind knowing that your chosen style is the one for you! The trial run is all about experimenting and tweaking things that you might not have known you wanted tweaked. Maybe you thought you liked big bouncy curls, but after seeing them, you prefer a softer elongated curl. That's what my trial runs are for; to ensure every detail is perfect for you on your special day!

Can I book a trial run first without booking you?

Unfortunately, my trial runs are only reserved for my booked brides for these reasons;
1.) My booking dates are first come first serve and I cannot hold a date in anticipation that you'll book. With high demand wedding dates, I could have another bride ready to book before your scheduled trial run is here and that date would be available for her to book regardless.
2.) You most likely have no idea what style you want! I'm currently booking brides anywhere from a year to a year and a half out. If your booking that far out and want a trial run before hand, you aren't going to know what style you want and if you think you do, it most likely will change a handful of time before your wedding. Not only will your hairs length and color be different from then until the wedding, giving inaccurate results, but your dress, veil, and accessories typically haven't been purchased and those are the biggest factors in choosing what style you want. Trends are also changing constantly! what you think you want a year out, may not be the new trendy style you want for your wedding.
I completely understand not wanting to book with someone blindly, however you should be booking with someone because you've seen their work and are confident in their skill set. this why i work hard to maintain an up-to-date portfolio and social presence.

When should I book my trial run?

I recommend booking your trial run 1-3 months out from the wedding. This will allow your hairs length and color to be the most similar to what it'll be like on the day of!  you'll also have a better idea of what style your wanting or wanting to try and decide from two.

Where does the trial run take place?

The trial run will take place at the salon I work at in Skowhegan, ME.

What should I bring for my trial run?

For your trial run please come with clean dry hair. Bring any hair extensions accessories, and veil you want to incorporate into your style and bring an inspo photo of your desired look. when finding an inspo photo look for one with a similar hair color, length, and thickness to what you'll have on your wedding day. I encourage you to wear makeup similar to how they want it for the wedding, wear white with a similar neckline to your dress, and your wedding day jewelry.

What if I decide I want a different style than the style I did for my trial run?

That's totally fine! that's the great thing about a hair trial run, it allows you to try a style without fully committing to it! If you decide on a different style, just let me know and we can figure out our new game plan.

How many trial runs can I have?

We can do as many trial runs as you need to feel confident in your chosen style! each additional trial run is $100.

Do I need an additional stylist?

The need for an additional stylist is determined through consultation. It comes down to how many people are receiving services and when everyone need to be done by. Venue restrictions of on site access also plays a role.

Do you have a travel limit?

Take me wherever your heart desires! I have no travel limit and I love to explore new places.

How do you determine if overnight accommodations are needed?

Overnight accommodation will be required if the getting ready location is over 3 hours away or if rehearsal styling is needed prior to the wedding.

Is the booking retainer refunded or does it come off the final total?

The booking retainer payment does not get refunded nor does the amount get taken off your final total owed.

What is the booking retainer for?

A retainer is a fee paid in advance to someone in order to secure their professional services for a commitment. As you start to plan your wedding and book your vendors you’re going to see the words booking deposit or booking retainer a lot. Booking fees are a wedding industry standard as we are essentially taking that date off our calendar, designating it you, and no longer marketing it to other available clients to book. Booking payments cover the cost of admin work for vendors, cost of supply restocks for the event date, helps prevent double booking, keeps the business running until the day of the event, acts as cancelation protection for the vendor should the couple cancel, and also gives the couple confidence that the vendor will perform their duties on the wedding day as booking payment holds the vendor accountable. I’ve missed family weddings, vacations, and bridal showers as once the booking payment and contract is signed, I’m committing myself to the couple for their wedding date.

How can we best prepare for your wedding day hair services?

This is my guide for my brides and all the ladies joining them to get ready on this special day! if you follow these steps we will have the an amazing stress free morning! 1.) Reserve a good spot for your glam team to set up. This should include an area with accessible outlets, natural lighting, a flat surface to place our tools and products, and a chair (if a chair without a high back is available that is preferred).  2.) When picking your service slot on my hair schedule, please consider your hair type, your desired style, and your role for the morning of. E.x. if your a mom who will be running around and decoration that morning, you'd want to go last for getting ready to prevent damage to your style from sweat, humidity, etc. If your designated for steaming dresses that morning, pick a time slot after your steaming will be done. Or if you want to wear your hair curled and all down, you shouldn't go first, you should go after the girls with updos to help prolong your curls. 3.) You should have clean DRY hair when you arrive for your styling service. Day old hair is preferred. Clarifying shampoo is recommended and for blonds, using purple shampoo is a great! If you struggle with volume, put in some volumizing mousse after you wash your hair. 4.) You should wear your hair down the morning of, before you get your hair done. If you tie your hair up or back, especially if its damp, your hair root area will have kinds and bends that will need to be smoothed out and could put us behind schedule. 5.) Be on time for your hair slot. I don't enjoy having to try to find you in a place I'm not familiar with, or trying to find someone else to hunt you down. Because of this, I recommend being 10-15 minutes early. If we're running early its great to keep staying ahead of schedule! 6.) You should wear something that can easily be taken off during your hair service. Wearing a robe, a button up shirt, or a zip up, is a great option so that when you get undressed to put your dress on, your not pulling anything over your head and potentially ruining your hair. 7.) You should bring all your own hair accessories and extensions you plan on using to your hair service. 8.) if you plan on wearing extensions, please notify ahead of time so i can schedule extra time for styling and installation. 9.) Clients with frizzy, course, and/or curly hair who need it smoothed out to fight against their natural hair, are to come with their hair already smoothed and ready for styling. 10.) You should come to your appointment service knowing what style you are wanting and with inspo pictures already to go. the more time you take during your appointment to decide what you want, the less I have to actually style your hair.
